36 Hours to Moab

Updated: Nov 20, 2018

Moab, Utah is sure to come up when talking about America's best offroading spots - it's a natural spot for some truly epic off-roading. The region's unique "slickrock" makes for a driving experience unlike anything else, set to breathtaking views and some of the strongest off-road culture anywhere.

Moab allows for a unique opportunity to drive right throughthe incredible wind-form shapes you've seen in landscape photographers, documentaries, National Geographic, you name it.

The trip started out with the interest of lots of friends but as the date came closer people began to fall off the plans, which soon earned the trip the name the "no excuses trip". Mikey, Jimmy, Timmy, Sean and I ended up setting a final date and making it happen in June 2018.

Let the drive begin! We drove from Florida up through GA, TN, to KY and over to CO, finally ending up in Utah. We slept in rest areas on the side of the highway and met with a couple companies along the way. I'd have to say driving through Colorado from Denver to Glenwood Springs was absolutely amazing!

I equipped my rig with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 40 inch tires with BattleBorn Bootlegger 17 inch beadlocks a week before heading out. The grip that these tires provided, while airing down with the beadlocks to 8 PSI made for quite the experience on the trails. What a perfect dynamic duo.

Golden Crack

Safe to say I was able to put my suspension to work! Flexing as passing over the Golden Crack. Rebel Offroad's Recon Complete 2.5 12" Front and 14" Rear King Coilover Kit with King Bumpstops in all 4 corners and Rock Krawler's JK 4.5 Rock Runner Long Arms

Being that we were there in June, temperatures were usually in the high 90's and 100's (bring plenty of water!). All my Mishimoto cooling products came in pretty helpful and kept the rig running at an ideal temp.

No matter what your level of ability, beginners and experts alike find 4x4 routes worthy of conquering — from smooth and scenic backcountry trails to choppy and challenging rock crawls and everything in between. No matter if you live 36 hours away, 5 or 50, I'd highly recommend making the trip out to Moab at least once!

Special thanks to Adams Polishes for detailing the rig on my stop through Colorado on the way back to Florida!
